Ride with others and build your confidence

We’re really looking forward to meeting you and riding with you.

When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by a member of the team and asked to sign in. Your ride leader will then have a quick chat with you to understand your cycling experience, confidence level and what you’d like to get from the session, helping us make sure everyone feels comfortable and supported.

Is this ride right for you?

This session is ideal if you:

  • Want to practise your cycling skills
  • You have basic cycling ability and can ride a bicycle in low-traffic or off-road environments such as parks, cycle paths or quiet roads. You may not have recent experience riding in traffic.
  • Feel nervous cycling alone.
  • You have your own bike, suitable for the conditions, in good working order.
  • Are looking for a low-pressure way to build fitness or confidence
  • Want to explore your local area and learn new routes
  • Are interested in meeting others in a supportive, social setting

You don’t need to be a fast or experienced cyclist.

What to expect

We’ll begin in a safe recreational space with a few relaxed group activities, starting with a simple bike safety check to make sure your bike is ready to ride. We’ll then practice some key bike handling skills and introduce a few group riding techniques to help everyone feel confident before heading out.

After that, we’ll take a short walk along a footpath to the leisure centre, when there’ll be time for a chat about route planning and you can get to know the other riders in the group. Once everyone is ready, we’ll set off together on our ride route.

Our sessions are designed to be friendly, supportive and inclusive, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and ride at a comfortable pace.

You can expect:

  • A friendly, relaxed group ride
  • A beginner/returner friendly local route
  • Support with bike checks and safety
  • A comfortable pace for everyone
  • Time to meet others and build confidence
  • A fun, sociable way to explore local cycling routes
What's included?

On a ride, you’ll pick up useful knowledge like:

    • How to ride safely on shared paths or roads
    • How to signal, pass people and maintain road position
    • Route planning tips and how to explore new areas
    • What to pack or carry for short rides
    • Confidence cycling in a group

Most importantly, you’ll get to practise real-world riding in a setting that feels encouraging and achievable.
